Following a career as an actor, broadcaster and on-air program host, and having served AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) for more than 15 years as Chicago Local president, National Board member and Officer, Ray then served for 13 years as the union’s National

Director for Equal Employment Opportunities, challenging discrimination, sexual harassment and addressed the issues and concerns of the union’s women, seniors, people of color, minors, persons with disabilities and the LGBTQIA+ communities. After serving as SAG-AFTRA’s National

Director of Policy and Diversity Advocacy, he was GLAAD’s National Director, Entertainment Programming. Hispanic Business Magazine named Ray one of the 100 influential Hispanics in America, and he is listed in the Who’s Who Among Hispanic Americans. As President of the Media Image Coalition, a program of theLos Angeles County Commission on Human Relations, he was honored with a 2009 Los Angeles County Volunteer of the Year citation. Ray is a Lifetime Member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) and served on NLGJA’s Board of Directors.
